About our farm
Much of the day to day work on the farm is carried out by local children and ttenagers. The farm hosts a variety of individuals and groups, such as student placements, Y.T.S., a continuous chain of school parties, special needs groups and exchanges from Germany.
The farm has proved to be something of a 'honey pot' for local children and young adults, many are unemployed or have learning difficulties, but they work hard and respond well to the City Farm environment.
We have a stable block, pig pen area, barn and goat dairy on the farm itself, which houses the goats, pigs, rabbits and ducks. The surrounding areas are used for grazing the animals including cows, sheep, pony and geese. The donkeys have now gone to the South of England into retirement where they will live out the rest of their lives in a warmer climate.
The farm also has a garden area and polytunnel which produces plants and seasonal vegetables which are picked as they are available.
Admission to the whole farm site is generally free however donations are gratefully received.
The farm is open every day however we ask groups to book in advance for guided tours around the site, for which there is a small charge.
